City Harbor
Ithaca, NY
Mixed-Use | Waterfront | Development
The City Harbor project, perched at the mouth of Cascadilla Creek and the Cayuga Inlet, will transform what was once a private marina and storage space into a more publicly accessible, inhabited, and vibrant landscape. WPD is currently working with a team of developers, local design professionals, and the City of Ithaca to prioritize public access to the waterfront and to take full advantage of the surrounding amenities, opportunities, and idyllic scenery. Keeping the waterfront publicly accessible has been an early priority of the project and significantly drives the developing site plan. The site design is inspired by the Cayuga Lake shoreline’s native plants and natural materials, and features a pedestrian promenade that stretches along the shoreline and connects to the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. Pocket parks located along the promenade and throughout the site offer open spaces large enough for informal active recreation as well as more intimate spaces for picnics and gatherings, all of which can be accessed by visitors, residents, boaters, and pedestrians.
