Triple Cities Innovation “iDistrict” Corridor
Broome County, NY
Streetscape | Branding
Broome County’s Triple Cities Innovation “iDistrict” Corridor project brings together research based anchor institutions, creative and forward thinking companies from start-ups to corporate leaders, and public investment in placemaking, entrepreneurship and workforce development. Working together with branding and marketing firm IdeaKraft, Whitham Planning Design Landscape Architecture provided site analysis and concept design services for the Broome County Department of Planning and Economic Development. The analysis and design were conducted for iDistrict sites belonging to the Greater Binghamton Innovation Ecosystem, which includes Endicott, Johnson City, and Binghamton. WPD’s streetscape elements such as benches, planters, crosswalks, and wayfinding signage incorporate the agreed upon brand symbols of a gear to represent Endicott’s advanced manufacturing, a star to represent Johnson City’s health sciences and culture, and a spark to represent Binghamton’s technology and arts.
